I am an experienced clarinetist, comfortable performing solo, chamber music and orchestral repertoire. I’m currently principal clarinet with Orchestra Wellington, and co-principal clarinet with the Royal NZ Air Force Band. In addition to this, I’m also in demand as a freelancer, performing and recording frequently with other orchestras and ensembles in Wellington and throughout New Zealand. Take a look at some of my prior work below.
Gulper, Lisa Neher
Recorded live at Bedlam and Squalor, Wellington for a Pōneke Classical Sessions concert.
The composer, Lisa Neher writes so elegantly on this piece: “The gulper eel or pelican eel is not an eel at all but a deep-water fish named for its enormous, pelican-like mouth, which is much larger than the rest of its long, skinny body. In this piece, the gulper eel comes to life, illuminating its lure, lying in wait for prey, moving about in the deep sea with its whip-like tail, and finally coming in for the kill. I hope this piece cultivates interest and empathy for this fascinating and mysterious creature.”
